About This Blog

I received an email wanting to know more information on this blog, so I thought I’d write a little bit about why I started the page and what’s in it for me and what’s in it for you.

I am a big fan of rock and heavy metal. In my teenage years, I worked on a “street team” where we helped to promote the bands we loved and in return there was the chance of winning free merch or just the knowledge that you’d done something to help the bands you loved. I loved it because I was going on about those bands to my friends anyway and I was emailing into radio shows asking them to play my favourites without the prompt. Not only did it help these artists out, but it meant I made a whole load of new friends, people who I’ve now known for over 20 years and are friends for life.

What has that got to do with this blog? Well, I enjoy helping others out. It’s really that simple. I am reading blogs by people anyway, so why not share the ones I’ve enjoyed with other people? I’m sure there are others who’d enjoy reading the same stories I have. And with so many blogs out there with a variety of ways of sharing, different platforms, different genres or styles, different kinds of URLs. Sometimes it’s a little overwhelming knowing where to look.

What am I getting out of it? Well I don’t plan on making money from all your hard work. This is a free blog, the adverts are those put up by WordPress, not by me. I don’t want anything out of it other than the knowledge I’ve helped someone else find a new reader. For me, that’s enough reward in itself!

I am happy to answer questions though. I did set out in doing this for the pure love of family history, genealogy and social history and having a platform to share and network with bloggers and readers, not for my own gain.

Thanks for reading and I hope that you’re check out the index for the blogs who have joined and come back on a Friday to see what new blogs I’ve enjoyed checking out through the week.
